This camp enjoys a prime location in the private reserve, in the Linyanti/Savuti Channel area, as it faces a massive oxbow-shaped lagoon in Linyanti River. The camps took it name in honour of a Scandinavian monarch who visited the area before it had been built. Accommodation
Accommodation at this Botswana camp is provided in nine spacious canvas and thatched tents, each with a large bedroom area, double showers and basins, a lounge, private plunge pool and deck, and an outdoor shower where guests can enjoy a refreshing rinse under the stars.
The public living area at this camp in Botswana consists of a main lounge, pub and dining room, all of which have thatch roofs. A swimming pool has been built into the deck so that guests can cool off on warmer days, while an open fitness area allows visitors to continue with their regular exercises during their break. It features a rowing machine, two treadmills and two bicycles. The exciting activities on offer include game drives in 4x4 Land Rovers with open sides, night drives, boat safaris (depending on water levels) and beautiful guided walks. The Safaris
The surrounding area is home to an array of wildlife that will make every game drive safari a unique and exciting African safari experience. One of the highlights at this camp is the many herds of elephant that roam the area, which are at their largest in the winter months. A variety of antelope, as well as predators such as Lion, Cheetah, Leopard, Wild Dog and Hyena, are spotted regularly by visitors. Birders could spend their entire stay around the reed and papyrus swamps observing the vast number of bird species during the dry months. The position of this Botswana camp allows guests to continue their game viewing experience even when they are not exploring the open bush. The lagoon in front of camp is filled with hippo and two hides provide the perfect opportunity to watch animals close up without them even realising that they are being observed. One hide overlooks the water where animals come to drink, while the other was originally an underground hide and has the water at eye-level, allowing for magical views of elephant that are almost close enough to touch.
General
Electricity
The safari camp has a 220v generator and electricity is run to the kitchen and main areas when guests are away. Once they return from daily activities, generators are generally switched off to allow for peace in the camp. 12v battery power is used for lighting and fans in tents. Hairdryers and other similar device are not catered for at Kings Pool Camp. Guests are also urged to bring two batteries for video recorders or cameras, as a battery can only be charged when the generator is in use.
Laundry
Laundry is done daily and is inclusive in the nightly tariff, but excludes underwear, which are not washed due to local customs.
