Location
Little Vumbura is a glorious tented camp nestled in an ancient Okavango Delta forest. This Botswana camp is situated north of Mombo in a private reserve which borders the Moremi Game Reserve. Little Vumbura offers an array of activities on either land or water, including scenic walks on the islands with experienced guides. Mokoros can be used to explore the twisting waterways with experienced polers, while open 4x4 Land Rovers put guests face-to-face with the wide range of animals in the savannah areas. Night drives are also available and give guests the opportunity to see the African bush come to life at night. Tents are large and spacious, with an en-suite bathroom that includes hot and cold running water, a shower, and a flush toilet. Guests can also enjoy a refreshing outdoor shower under the stars or take a dip in the plunge pool on those scorching summer days. This area can only be accessed by aircraft, and if the water levels are high in winter, a mokoro/boat will transfer guests to the camp.
Accommodation
There are four tents on offer at this Botswana safari camp, three of which offer ¾ twin beds as well as one king size-bedded honeymoon tent. There is also one guide tent which is the same as the guest accommodation. Each of the tents has en-suite bathroom facilities and provides spectacular views over the water from the bedrooms and the private veranda. Soaps, shampoos and insect repellents are provided in each room as well as fans. The main area of the camp offers a pub, dining room and lounge under canvas on spacious decking. A relaxed reading area overlooks the flood plains while visitors can also use the large enclosed plunge pool, which is situated on a wooden deck and equipped with sun loungers and a shaded area.
The Safaris
Little Vumbura is known as one of the best safaris in the area for game viewing and guests could see Sable, Elephant, Lion, Red Lechwe, Hippo, Buffalo, Tsessebe, Warthog, Crocodile, Leopard, Cheetah and Waterbuck. There are also very large Buffalo herds and Pel’s Fishing Owls.
Due to the location, around half of the activities revolve around game drives and the other half are made up of water activities. This can change depending on flood levels.
Game Drive Safaris
Game drives are done on two 10-seater open 4x4 Land Rovers, each accommodating up to seven guests, and allows all guests an outside seat. Night Drives are also available, while walking safaris on nearby islands can be done on request.
Water Based Safaris
Guests can enjoy game viewing in any of the four two-seater traditional mokoros (canoes). A powerboat is also available and can seat eight visitors.
