Day 1 – Johannesburg to Victoria Falls, transfer to Hwange National Park, Kennedy Camp

Your journey begins in Johannesburg where you will board your flight to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.  Upon arrival at Victoria Falls Airport, you will be transferred by road to Hwange Main Camp in the Hwange National Park.  Here you will be collected by your guide and transferred by road to Kennedy Camp located in the central Hwange National Park, it is from here that you will begin your walking safari. Depending on your arrival time at Kennedy Camp you will have time to settle in and refresh yourselves before an afternoon walking safari or a relaxing sundowner in front of the campfire.

Dinner around the campfire at Kennedy Camp

Kennedy Camp is a mobile camp with ensuite Meru-style tents fully equipped with all the amenities to make your stay comfortable.  There are only 5 tents situated around a communal dining/boma area and lounge area.  The camp is located a few hundred meters from a prolific waterhole, meaning wildlife often walks through camp while you relax on your tent’s veranda. Slip off to sleep with the sounds of hyenas and lions close by.

Day 2 & 3 – On a walking safari in Hwange National Park

Your typical day on safari at Kennedy Camp will start with an early morning coffee and some rusks before heading out on your morning game walk.  Immerse yourself in the beauty of the African Wilderness with your guide as he shows you all the wonders of the Hwange National Park as well as some incredible wildlife encounters.  Game viewing by foot is a whole new way of viewing wildlife, you get to see the world from their eyes instead of being in a game-viewing vehicle. After a few hours on foot, you will return to camp for a hearty brunch before relaxing in camp during the heat of the day, if you are lucky an elephant will stroll through camp heading to the nearby waterhole.

Late afternoon has you heading out again on foot, the afternoon light makes for some wonderful photographic opportunities and even better wildlife sightings as the animals head to the water holes for an evening drink.  The animals that tend to hunt at night all arise in the late afternoon so your chances of seeing a lion or leopard are high on your afternoon safaris. Enjoy some sundowners while watching the water hole before heading back to camp for a scrumptious dinner served under the magical African skies.
