The Mugie Conservancy is a 50,000-acre private wildlife conservancy focusing on community involvement and conservation. You will be spending the next 3 nights at the Governors Mugie House on a fully inclusive basis.
Mugie House is the newest addition to the Governors Collection of camps. There are only 8 cottages located on the top of a hill with the most incredible views over the Laikipia landscapes. Each cottage is built with stone and thatch with sweeping views over the surrounding landscape. Furnished with luxurious 4 poster beds and all the amenities you could need, the Mugie house provides a luxurious and relaxing home away from home.
Day 2 & 3 – On Safari in the Mugie Conservancy, Kenya
Set in a private conservancy focusing on wildlife, the activities are based around game viewing however there are many other activities to keep you occupied during the days such as canoeing on the dam, and golfing on their private golf course. Wildlife activities consist of the standard game drives and game walks, however, you also will have the opportunity to meet their anti-poaching unit and possibly assist in tracking a lion. If you prefer a more laid-back trip, the main lodge offers an infinity swimming pool with views over a watering hole, or unwind with a treatment at the onsite spa.
Day 4 – Mugie Conservancy to Masai Mara, Kenya (Governors Mara Camp)
After you breakfast, you will be transferred to the Mugie Airstrip where you will board your charter flight to the famous Masai Mara National Reserve, arguably the best safari area in Kenya. The Masai Mara National Reserve is home to a wide variety of wildlife as well as a rich culture from the local tribes. The Great Migration happens each year from July to October when thousands of wildebeest migrate through the grasslands of the Masai Mara. Upon arrival at the Musiara Airstrip, you will be met by your guide and transferred in an open-game vehicle to the Governors Mara Camp where you will be spending the next 3 nights on a fully inclusive basis.
Governors Mara camp is the first permanent luxury tented camp in Africa, set along the banks of the Mara River in one of the best areas for game viewing in the reserve. The camp is made up of classic ensuite safari tents, each with views of the surrounding savannah or views of the Mara River. Governors Mara Camp offers family tents as well as wheelchair-friendly tents. The main area is a relaxing space with views over the plains and the bar deck overlooks the Mara River.
Day 5 & 6 – On Safari in the Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya
You will spend your days on safari in the Masai Mara National Reserve home to the Great Migration (July to October). Go on a guided walk with a Masai warrior and learn the intricate workings of nature. A hot air balloon safari is a wonderful way to see the Mara from a very different point of view. Governors Mara Camp also hosts a kids programme making it the perfect family destination. However, if you choose to spend your day the Masai Mara will capture your heart.
Day 7 – Masai Mara National Reserve to Nairobi.
After breakfast and if time allows a morning activity you will be transferred back to the Musiara Airstrip for your charter flight to Nairobi. This brings you to the end of your 7-day safari and you will return home with magical memories of your Kenyan Safari.
